1st XV Record a comprehensive Win vs Irish:
The 1st XV travelled to London Irish yesterday and their incredibly impressive ground in South West London. As always the hospitality was top notch and thoroughly enjoyed by the Beaconsfield lunch attendees and supporters for the match. I suspect we had over 100 people in attendance at Irish which again is testament to the support the club receives.
The performances the team are putting in continue to impress everyone in attendance. The first 50 odd minutes we were simply sublime, easily the best this season. The shape, structure and accuracy was superb. We scored numerous team tries where we stretched Irish from one side of the pitch to the other and then through some subtle plays, found space and scored. We secured the 4 try bonus within 20 minutes and by half time we were 12-35 up.
The level of intensity dropped off in the last 20 mins, the Irish got their act together and it all got a bit scrappy. However, we still emerged 22-49 winners and we now sit just one point off the top of the table.
Man of the match yesterday was Club Captain Luke Davis who put in a fine shift from the back row but there were many who could have won accolade given the level of performance.
A Relatively Quiet Sunday:
Half term clearly made an impact on numbers today after last weeks mammoth tournament. However the sun was shining and the smiles were still out on coaches, parents and players alike. Most sides were training, whilst the U13s recorded a comprehensive win over Tring at home.
Sportsmans Dinner - Fully Sold Out
Our dinner in January was sold out in three days, which is fantastic. What is hugely encouraging is the volume of parents and coaches coming from the different underage groups with representation from U7s all the way through to U18s. This is however subject to payment so some places may still become available. So if you are keen and want to be added to the reserve list then please let me know.
Quiz - 21st November:
We are also now sold out for the Stroudy Quiz, which should be a great fun evening. If anyone has any prizes they would like to donate then please let Zoe know (07768 685572).
Autumn Internationals - All Shown Live:
Next weekend sees the start of the Autumn Internationals with some cracking games scheduled, including England v Australia at 3:10pm and Ireland New Zealand at 8pm. All matches of the Autumn Series will be shown live and the clubhouse will be open to all members and guests.
Barbarians vs All Blacks:
I’m delighted to report that Fitz Harding has been selected to play for the Barbarians against an All Blacks XV next weekend at Twickenham. Fitz, captain at Bristol, and his brothers all came through the mini system at Beaconsfield and his parents were always great supporters of the club. As per tradition Fitz will be wearing his club socks for the match and he has chosen to wear a Beaconsfield sock alongside a Bristol sock. This will be the first time the club has been represented in the Barbarians and its a huge honour. Good luck Fitz!
Next Weekend:
Senior league rugby now takes a mini break until Saturday the 8th November, with the 1st XV playing Old Priorians at home. This next tranche of matches will be interesting to determine whether we are true league contenders as we play four of the other top five sides in the league. OPs are traditionally a strong side so it will be an interesting challenge.
Hope everyone has a good week
