This weekend we had three senior men sides playing. This is the first time in many seasons that we have managed to send out three full sides (non vets) which is a fantastic achievement and testament to the excellent work that Russ and the coaching team are putting in. All three sides winning well too….
Sunday Rugby:
Unfortunately the main pitches remained too hard for contact sessions so we had to cancel a number of junior matches. However all sides trained on the cross land pitches and there were good numbers throughout. The forecast definitely looks more favourable this week so hopefully back to normal from next Sunday.
1st XV: A Comfortable Win vs Oxford Quins 2s:
First match back post the Christmas break resulted in a comfortable win against Quins, 21-78. We benefited from their 4G pitch and despite going behind early on we ran in some excellent team tries with both Braiden and Tyson grabbing 3 tries apiece, & Joe Thomas and Declan McCormack getting a brace each. This win cements our place behind Brunel in 2nd and looking very strong for a play off spot as a minimum. We have an interesting run of matches now against strong sides, starting with Harpenden on Saturday, who were relegated from the league above last season.
2nd XV: A Statement Win vs Milton Keynes
The 2s had one of their strongest wins of the season, away from home against a Milton Keynes 1st XV, winning 21-33. Possibly one of the strongest 2nd XV that we have put out in many a season and puts us at top of the table for the first time this season, one point above local rivals A&C.
Next Saturday we play Maidenhead at home which is a crucial match as they are in third, but with a game in hand.
The 3rd XV Win Well and Keep Hitchin Scoreless
The third team travelled to Hitchin on Saturday and whilst the scoreline was undoubtedly flattering to us (77-0), we played some great rugby and keeping the opposition scoreless was a particular highlight. Coach Kwongy was particularly pleased with the players performances and sang their praises afterwards.
Beaconsfield Have Eight New Refs:
On Saturday we ran an all day referee qualification course and delighted to announce that we now have 8 newly qualified referees at the club. Our game cannot survive without referees and this is a huge step forward in supporting the Bucks Referees Society, a shout out to Mark Holmes for organising.
One Can Trust:
We had another hugely successful clothes donation day yesterday for the One Can Trust with lots of families being very generous in their donations, in possibly our largest ever donation. Well done everyone who helped and donated.
2026 Studs & Sequins Late Summer Ball:
You will have seen announcements re our late summer ball and tickets go on sale at 7pm on Sunday evening - watch out for the announcements and start getting your tables organised.
Next Saturday Matches & Lunch:
Finally another big day at the club next Saturday with 2s playing Maidenhead and 1st XV playing Harpenden. There are still a few places available for the pre-match lunch and you have until 6pm tomorrow evening to confirm a place. You can book vis this link:
