The Six Nations started this weekend and whilst the English supporters are undoubtedly happy, I’m starting to take a keener interest in the Winter Olympics and Ireland’s remote chances of a medal.
Colts Suffer Narrow Lose to A&C:
Whilst senior mens and ladies rugby took a break this weekend, the Colts had their crucial league match vs A&C yesterday, suffering a late loss 17-19. The match was closely fought, with the lead changing hands a few times with A&C coming out winners in the end. I know the boys and coaches will be bitterly disappointed but they should also be proud of their efforts so far this season.
Four of the Colts were awarded their 15th Colts caps post match, three of whom have played since U6s. Congratulations to Janni, Kingsley, Henry Terrell and Henry Atkinson, a fine achievement.
Ladies Selected for County:
In still their first completive season, I am delighted to report that both Lydia MacDonald and Faye Effard have been selected for the senior ladies county team. Onwards and upwards for the ladies who continue to excel in their achievements.
Minis Festival - Sunday 8th March - Help Needed:
We have our second minis festival on Sunday March 8th. This is another significant event with 1,000 children attending and a huge amount of logistics and planning underway behind the scenes. Tina, Jim and team are definitely looking for some assistance if you can help in any way. From sponsorship, through to lending some equipment which may be helpful through to volunteering to help on car parking or BBQ duty, any assistance at all , please contact either Jim or Tina on minischair@beaconsfieldrfc.uk
A Big Saturday Coming Up:
Fingers crossed that we finally get some respite from the rain, but this coming Saturday is a huge day at the club. Firstly we have the Chairmans lunch which has been sold out now for a few weeks, followed by two home games versus A&C & London Irish, both kicking off at 2:30pm. London Irish are on a resurgent run recently so another good test awaits the 1st XV and the 2nd XV have a top of table clash against local rivals A&C. Having lost to them by three points earlier in the season, this is lined up to be a cracker. Post match we have England Scotland, followed by some live music from “The Quiet Men” from 6:30pm.
Thanks as always for your ongoing support
