We are now confirmed in the play offs regardless of any other results, however we just to need to secure at least one more point to guarantee 2nd place. With the 2nd XV top of the league also and the ladies Panthers side punching well above their weight, it’s really been a monumental season.
A Huge Win for Mens 1st XV:
Another proper ding dong battle for the 1st XV against a strong Belsize Park, final score 33-29. Again in a match where the lead changed hands on a number of occasions, our defence and work rate was immense. Similar to last week the opposition had to work a lot harder for their scores. We need to focus on retaining the ball through more phases, as once we do, we find holes. Congratulations to Callum Saganoski for getting man of the match after another strong showing for him.
We have one final regular match remaining vs Aylesbury on 11th April at home and then into our play offs matches on consecutive Saturdays.
2s Record a Strong Win vs Marlow:
After losing to Marlow at home earlier in the season our 2nd XV extracted revenge in fine style with a 69-14 win. We fielded a really strong side which again is testament to the strength and depth of the overall squad at the moment. Congratulations to Barney Howells who was man of the match on his return from injury. We remain 4 points ahead of both A&C and Maidenhead at the top of the league with three matches remaining.
Panthers Win Again:
The Panthers ladies were on absolute fire yesterday as they stormed to a dominant 39–0 victory against a combined opposition of Taplow Phoenix Flames, Gosford All Blacks, and Wallingford Warriors.
The opening 20 minutes were a gritty contest, with both sides battling hard as they settled into the game. But it was the Panthers who broke the deadlock with a moment of brilliance. Second row Louise Buckingham powered through the defensive line with a superb break, drawing in defenders before releasing outside centre Lydia McDonald who showed incredible pace and strength, sprinting more than half the length of the pitch to score the first try of the match.
From that moment on, the Panthers took full control. Their defence was relentless, their attack electric, and their teamwork outstanding across the field. With confidence growing after every phase, they piled on the pressure and kept the scoreboard ticking.
By the final whistle, the Panthers had sealed an emphatic 39–0 win—showcasing determination, skill, and a true team performance from start to finish.
Explaining the 1st XV Play Offs:
A new introduction this season, where teams in 2nd to 5th position have a chance to get promoted. However it’s far from simple and you would have to win four matches on the bounce to go up. As it stands today we would play Aylesbury (5th) at home on the 18th, winners of that play winners of Old Priorians (3rd) or Belsize (4th). Winners proceed to play the winner from a parallel league (includes HAC who we know well) and then finally play one team from the league above, quite possibly to be Maidenhead at the moment, which would be a fascinating match. Win all those and you go up. If you are still confused, its perfectly understandable, but come down next week and I can chat you through this over a beer!
Club 200:
Congratulations to this months winners Margaret Conway £150, Peter Farrow £50 & Kate Cottrell £25. Its £10 per month to join and all funds go towards capital projects in the club. To join click on this link: raffle.beaconsfieldrfc.uk
Returning Students:
This Friday we have one of our most important matches of the season, our returning students are playing a side from Ealing Trailfinders. This is another key opportunity to reinforce the bond the club has with this key group of players, which will hopefully entice them back down the club when they finish their studies. A few free beers and a BBQ is all part of the added attraction! Kick off on Friday is 1pm at the club. Please come down to support and encourage the lads.
End of Season Dinner:
We certainly will have a lot to celebrate at our end of season awards which is now scheduled for Saturday 6th June. This event is open to all supporters as well as players. We have booked a hog roast for the occasion and a DJ for the evening festivities. If anyone is keen on joining its £20 per head and Braiden Broughan is organising. To book and pay, whatsapp Braiden Broughan.
Presidents Lunch:
Apart from the returning students match, all other sides have a week off over Easter. The Presidents lunch on Saturday 11th is likely to be sold out with over 80 tickets now sold already.
