An exciting week of developments with the club securing a further 35 years on our lease.
Returning Students Match a Huge Success:
A hugely successful day at the club as our current crop of students returned in style and pizazz against Ealing. We had a squad of circa 25 players, from ages 17 to 23 and the next generation of senior players certainly announced their arrival with a 38-36 victory. However the result was far from the most important element of the day for either sides. This was all about ensuring we retain the link with young men who learned to play the game of rugby at the club and hopefully as they finish their travels or studies away they will come back to the club.
Everyone appeared to thoroughly enjoy their day and the few sponsored drinks from Hinch Property Management post match certainly helped too. A special mention to the referee on the day, a young Harley Clarke, who also learned his rugby at the club. Having not referred for a few years he did a tremendous job, super clear communications with the players and he massively contributed to the enjoyable day. Finally it wasn’t just students who returned to the club but also we had returning coaches, with Phil Smith in charge of the Ealing side. Ealing amateurs won their league this season so depending what happens in the play offs we may well see Phil again next season in the league campaign.
Next Saturday:
We have a double header at home next Saturday with both Aylesbury at home in the last regular league match vs our 1st XV and Bracknell playing our 2s. Both matches are a 3pm kick off. Our 1st team need just one point to guarantee 2nd place in the table.
It’s also Presidents Day at the club with the lunch close to being sold out (again!). If anyone wants any last minute bookings please confirm by tomorrow morning. Please book using the link below:
Womens Six Nations:
Next Saturday also heralds the beginning of the Women’s Six Nations, with England playing Ireland at Twickenham. Not a fixture I’m personally optimistic about however you never know! All England matches are being shown live at the club.
Hope you all had a lovely Easter weekend.
