Weekly Update - Our Medical Team Take the Headlines this Week
The clubhouse was buzzing again at the weekend with over 500 people watching the two home matches on Saturday, and a busy clubhouse pre and post match. We were losing both games at half time but ultimately managed two crucial wins for our league aspirations.
Medical Care Team Excel:
Unfortunately on Saturday there was a nasty injury to a Harpenden player early in the second half of the 1st XV fixture. He was eventually taken to Wexham hospital where he had an operation yesterday, which thankfully was successful. However I need to call out the professionalism and care that the Beaconsfield medical team of Gemma, Charlotte and Emma provided to the young man, without which could have been significantly more serious. Their calm and caring approach was a credit to both them and the club. I have received a number of messages from Harpenden thanking the club, our DoR and in particular our medical team for their outstanding care in real testing conditions. Well done everyone involved!
First Girls Focused Session a Huge Success
With our two England Roses in attendance we had a hugely successful debut girls focused session on Wednesday night with no less than 14 girls, from ages 7 to 11 turning up. What was particularly pleasing was a number of these were new to the sport of rugby. They had a great time and chatting to one dad post the event said his daughter was literally buzzing afterwards. This will now turn into a regular event every Wednesday evening from 6pm. Please continue to spread the word.
2nd XV Secure Bonus Point Win at the Death:
A fantastic ding dong, top of the table, battle against a strong Maidenhead side, where we came out winning 24-7. However this game felt like it was in the balance throughout and we scored our fourth and bonus point try in the last play of the game. It was brilliant to watch and the work rate from our boys was just outstanding, proving our earlier away win was no fluke.
A Close 1st XV Win vs Harpenden:
We took the spoils in an incredibly hard fought match vs Harpenden. They were definitely stronger than our away fixture and we were made to fight for every scrap. The lead changed hands a number of times and a breakaway try from man of the match, Declan McCormack, to wrestle back the lead, was one of the key points in the game. A shout out to Thomas Rendell who was named by the opposition as their man of the match, had a huge impact at the breakdown and around the fringes.
Our senior mens squad really is going from strength to strength. We remain in 2nd place in the table behind Brunel who dispatched Aylesbury with ease on Friday night and our 2nd XV keep their slot at the top of the table.
Sunday Rugby:
The clubhouse was a little quieter this Sunday with a number of age groups playing away and some turning their hands to judo. It was particularly pleasing though to see 47 boys and girls run about at U5s. Its really difficult to remember back to those days when I brought Finn down first but definitely many happy memories. Some notable updates…
Judo for U9s U10s, U11 & U12s:
This is a rugby session designed to use judo to increase the kids confidence and technique in the contact areas of the game. The judo coach was Nigel Muldowney, a 1st Dan British Jujitsu, level 2 coach and rugby enthusiast. Nigel has coached judo to several of Beaconsfield & Wycombe's 1st team players… not to mention lots of Team GB Judo squad members over the years. It was a huge success and well enjoyed by all.
U13s - had three mixed ability sides out against Marlow, where we won one, lost one and drew one.
U14s had 2 games yesterday, away at Buckingham and home vs Brackley. Both very competitive, we won versus Brackley in a close encounter but lost against Buckingham.
U15s - win away vs Camelot (14-32) in testing conditions - (see match report below)
Colts had a statement win away versus Henley, setting up a huge top of the table home game vs A&C on the 8th Feb

Sportsmans Dinner:
Looking forward to hosting both Andy Powell and Andy Gomarsall on Friday night. The event has been sold out for months now and in particular what is great about this event is that we have tables for parents from almost every age group from U7s up to U18s. Hopefully a great evening.
Senior Mens and Women’s Matches Next Weekend:
No 1st XV match next week and we have the 2nd XV playing Risborough away on Saturday. Also next weekend the Panthers side are playing Aylesbury on Sunday in the league, kick off at 2pm. The ladies continue to grow with a number of new players over the past few weeks and the squad continues to go from strength to strength.
Chairmans Lunch - Getting Close to being Sold Out
The Chairmans lunch on the 14th February, pre the London Irish fixture, is now close to being sold out. We do have an Irish band booked for post match too which may be adding to demand. We have our first comedy night of 2026 on Friday 27th February. Its a proper stellar lineup with Tania Edwards - As seen on 'Mock the week’, Vlad Ilich - British Comedian of the year 2025 and the return of Andy Stedman as your MC. Match Reports:
U15s - Camelot 14-32 BRFC
This was a solid performance from the lads today. We said due to conditions we wanted to play territory and within 5mins Fraser kicked from our half, the ball sat up nicely and Bruno tore through for the opening score.
This gave us confidence and from kickoff we moved the ball well to work away up the pitch. From a penalty we tapped and went and Bruno passed to Otto to sail in for our second.
Lineouts were a lottery, anything a degree off straight was adjudged not straight. We frustratingly lost a lineout on their 5m line to this. In the resulting scrum, our front row Max (impressive debut at prop), Ed (he’s a bull!) and George (another bull), pushed the opposition back and won us the ball. Evan (impressive debut at #8) picked and went, passed to Otto to slide over for his 2nd.
15-0 at half time we looked comfortable. The message was to pass, we were leaving tries on the field where we had created overlaps.
2nd half we gave Harry game time at scrum half as we look to build depth, and started much like the first. We had some good carries from the forwards, before quick hands put Dillon in the corner for another impressive score.
We then inexplicably had a wobble. We lost a bit of structure and they scored two tries to make it 20-14. The question was how would the lads respond.
George, Evan, Alexander all made big carries to get us territory, and Ed doesn’t need an invitation to pick and go for try time!
Nerves settled, it became a little chaoctic out there, we did lose a little structure but Bruno steadied the ship kicking for territory. Nice hands and Dillon waltzes in for his second.
The lads played really well and keep their 10 and 12 (humongous and could play rugby) quiet.

Henley Colts 5 – 25 Beaconsfield Colts
A cloudy but dry afternoon, a firm pitch, and a huge Beaconsfield performance.
Beaconsfield struck early with Dylan finishing on the left, converted by Jonah for 7–0. The red wall defence was immense all game, giving up just one clean line break and dominating the scrum.
Second half momentum came from sharper lineouts, big carries from Ollie “The Duke” Scard, and smart game management from super‑sub Charlie G. Henley’s discipline cracked under pressure, and Beaconsfield capitalised with tries from Tuffty and Leo plus a string of penalties from Jonah.
Henley grabbed a late consolation, but the result was never in doubt.
